Destination 01: Sunflower Akeno
Destination 02: Hottarakashi Onsen
Visit Hokuto city, the sunniest city in Japan and enjoy the magnificent view of vibrant sunflower fields!
More than 600.000 sunflowers are blooming in Akeno this year too, where the Sunflower Festival will take place.
From the sunflower fields, visitors can also admire an astonishing view of the Southern Alps, Yatsugatake an Mt. Fuji. On clear days, it is also possible to see the Northern Alps between the Kaikomagatake and Yatsugatake mountains.
MAIN ATTRACTION :
During the sunflower season, the “Hokuto-shi Akeno Sunflower Festival” is held, and there, the visitors can enjoy soft-serve ice cream with sunflower seed topping, locally harvested fresh vegetables, stalls operated by the local chamber of commerce and industry, as well as sunflower photo contests.
The hot springs facility looks up at Mt. Fuji and down on the Kofu basin by day, and commands a view of the reputed “ceiling of starry skies” at night. Visitors can enjoy the changing of the seasons: a blanket of peach flowers covers the Kofu basin in spring, a cool breeze reaches the location 700m above sea level in summer, the mountain range is embraced in red leaves in autumn, and the sky is thickly sprinkled with starts in winter.
