We start off in Osaka. After picking you up in one of our luxurious private vehicles, we will drive you through the three destinations of your choice.
Main Itinerary 01: Hyogo prefectural museum of art
The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art is a modern and contemporary art museum found along the waterfront in the HAT Kobe district. It was built as part of the city’s recovery efforts after the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, and was designed by Ando Tadao, one of Japan’s leading contemporary architects who has designed museums on Naoshima, Omotesando Hills and the Tokyo Skytree among other famous buildings.
Entrance fee (separate from tour price, to be purchased on the spot)
Adults: JPY510 per person (permanent exhibition)
Main Itinerary 02: Honpukuji Water Temple
If you are interested in architecture, you will almost certainly know the name of Tadao Ando. His designs are striking in their simplicity, and the way they harmonize with their locations. The Water Temple is an excellent example of Ando’s re-interpretation of the Japanese aesthetic. Surrounded by Awaji countryside of rice fields and bamboo woods, it blends into the setting. The first sign you are approaching a building is when you see a high concrete wall. A small red torii at one end signifies that this is a spiritual place.
Main Itinerary 03: Awaji Yumebutai
The Awaji Yumebutai is a conference center, hotel and memorial in Awaji, Hyogo built in the wake of the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake. Tadao Ando created this artificial landscape to showcase flowers of the region. The location is easily accessible from Kobe and Osaka via the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.
Main itinerary 04: Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori ( If any time remains)
One of Osaka’s most popular tourist destinations, this street runs parallel to the Dotonbori canal. It is a popular shopping and entertainment district and is also known as a food destination. At night it is lit by hundreds of neon lights and mechanized signs, including the famous Glico Running Man sign and Kani Doraku crab sign.
Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and the surrounding Shinsaibashi area is Osaka’s premiere shopping center. Approximately 600 m long, this area is unique as it combines chain retail stores and trendy boutiques with expensive department stores and top designer fashion labels.
The tour will end with us dropping you off at a location of your choice in Osaka.
