DETAILED ITINERARY

We start off in Japan’s busy capital, Tokyo. After picking you up in one of our luxurious private vehicles, we will drive you through some truly spectacular countryside views to the three destinations of your choice.

Option 01: Engakuji Temple

Engakuji is one of the leading Zen temples in Eastern Japan and the number two of Kamakura’s five great Zen temples. Engakuji was founded by the ruling regent Hojo Tokimune in the year 1282, one year after the second invasion attempt by the Mongols had been reverted. One purpose of the new temple was to pay respect to the fallen Japanese and Mongolian soldiers.

Option 02: Hasedera

Hasedera is a temple of the Jodo sect, famous for its eleven-headed statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. The 9.18 meter tall, gilded wooden statue is regarded as one of the largest wooden sculpture in Japan and can be viewed in the temple’s main building, the Kannon-do Hall. According to legend, it was carved from the same tree as the similarly tall Kannon statue worshiped at the Hasedera Temple in Nara Prefecture.

Option 03: Hokokuji Temple

If the iconic Sagano Bamboo Grove in Kyoto is not within reasonable distance to include on your travel itinerary, consider visiting the enchanting bamboo garden at Hokokuji Temple in Kamakura. Just an hour south of Tokyo, admire the strength and beauty of 2,000 Moso-bamboo tucked beyond the Zen temple gate. As you make your way up the winding path and manicured gardens, the aroma of the seasonal flowers will instantly soothe you. Calm your senses further with a fresh cup of matcha green tea at the teahouse. The serenity of Hokokuji’s bamboo gardens will immediately transform your being with a peace of mind.

Option 04: Meigetsuin Temple

Located only 60 minutes away from Tokyo, Meigetsu-in is a temple with a well-kept garden that is probably Kamakura’s not-so-well-kept secret. Although Meigetsu-in Temple, or the Ajisai-dera, is usually packed with tourists flocking to catch a glimpse of its more than 2500 hydrangea bushes during the tsuyu monsoon season, it’s actually a temple that beautifully showcases all four distinct seasons of Japan.

Option 05: Sankeien Garden

Sankeien is a spacious Japanese style garden in southern Yokohama which exhibits a number of historic buildings from across Japan. There is a pond, small rivers, flowers and wonderful scrolling trails that make you think you are in Kyoto rather than Yokohama.

The tour will end with us dropping you off at a location of your choice in Tokyo.
