DETAILED ITINERARY
Destination 01: Mino park and waterfall

Minoo Park and waterfall Private Package Tour

Minoo Park is a forested valley on the outskirts of Osaka, just north of the urban sprawl. During the fall, it is one of the best places in the Kansai Region to see the autumn colors in a natural setting, as opposed to the attractive fall foliage found at temples and gardens. The colors are usually best in the second half of November.

Minoo Park’s main hiking trail extends about three kilometers through a valley alongside the Minoo River. The trail begins near Hankyu Minoo Station and leads to the Minoo Waterfall. With a height of 33 meters, the waterfall is the park’s main natural attraction. The name Minoo Waterfall comes from the fall’s resemblance to winnowing, a traditional farming technique to separate grains from husks (the Japanese word for “winnow basket” is “mino”). The name was later applied to the area in general.

The trail from the station to the waterfall does not have any dramatic inclines, is paved and should take most hikers about 45 minutes to walk (one way). The first half of the trail passes by several shops, temples buildings and other facilities, while the later half is a bit steeper and surrounded by trees.

Destination 02: Katsuoji

Katsuoji Discover the outskirts of Osaka Private Package Tour

Katsuoji temple was constructed by the sixth feudal lord of the area, Ko Jun, in an effort to pray for the 56th emperor’s recovery from an illness. It was successful. This led to its renaming as Katsuoji Temple or “Victorious King Temple” for its similarity to the Japanese phrase for “the temple that won out over a king.” The “king” in its name was later changed to “tail” with the same pronunciation, and it has remained Katsuoji Temple ever since. It has gained followers for its good fortune from conquerors through the ages, including the Minamoto, Ashikaga, and Toyotomi clans. Even today, it receives an endless stream of worshippers seeking to pray for “victor’s luck” in academic tests, business, job searches, sports, and every imaginable endeavor. The countless Daruma dolls – styled after founder of Zen Buddhism Bodhidharma – given as offerings here attest to the effectiveness of its luck.
