DETAILED ITINERARY

Kaga Onsen is a collection of four hot spring towns south of Kanazawa, not far from Mount Hakusan, one of Japan’s “three holiest mountains” (alongside Mount Fuji and Mount Tateyama). The hot springs were discovered over 1300 years ago by monks visiting Hakusan, and have been popular, highly rated onsen destinations ever since

Option 01: Kutaniyaki Kamaato Tenjikan (Recommended)
Kutaniyaki Kamaato Tenjikan Private Package Tour

This Exhibition Hall allows visitors to see the “Kama-ato” (pottery oven) used by the Yoshida Family who resurrected the art of Kutaniyaki Porcelain. The “Kama-ato” was constructed in 1826 (Bunsei 9) by Den-emon Yoshidaya, and the oven was closed down only 7 years afterwards. However, new owners have put the oven into great use and over the 180 years, many works of art were created from this “Kama-ato”. Now the history and process of making Kutaniyaki Porcelain are explained in detail to visitors in this Hall with exhibitions of the actual work of Kutaniyaki Porcelain, panel boards and tools used in making the potteries.

Option 02: Yamashiro Onsen (Recommended)

Yamashiro Onsen Private Package Tour

Yamashiro Onsen is one of the four hot spring towns that make up Kaga Onsen. The town’s spring waters, which relieve muscle and joint pain as well as skin disease and digestion problems, were discovered by the monk Gyoki during his pilgrimage to nearby Mount Hakusan over 1300 years ago.

Option 03: Kakusenkei Kawadoko (April – October) (Recommended)

Kakusenkei Kawadoko is a great place to enjoy nature while savoring delicious Japanese sweets designed by one of Japan’s most renowned chefs. You can also take a walk on the popular path that runs along the riverbed. Kakusenkei Kawadoko is open from April to the end of October.

Option 04: Natadera Temple

Yamanaka Onsen Private Package Tour

Yamanaka Onsen , a small resort town along the Kakusenkei Gorge, is one of the four hot spring towns that make up Kaga Onsen. The town’s hot springs were discovered over 1300 years ago by the monk Gyoki, and have since been known to produce some of the best waters in the region.
