DETAILED ITINERARY

Toyama City is the largest city and capital of Toyama Prefecture in the Hokuriku Region of northern Chubu. The city is a former castle town and is historically a center of medicine. Due to its position on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, Toyama is a popular stop for tourists on the way to other attractions in the area such as the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

We start off in Toyama. After picking you up in one of our luxurious private vehicles, we will drive you through some truly spectacular views to the destinations of your choice.

Destination 01: Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design

The Museum of Modern Art, Toyama displays its international collection through various new perspectives, themes, and exhibitions. With a nice view of Kansui Park and the Tateyama Mountains, people come here to enjoy not only the museum, but also the restaurant and café. And, this museum features many ways to interact with the art, through seeing, creating, and learning. Approximately 15 minutes by car via Toyama Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

Destination 02: Folkcraft village

The Toyama Municipal Folk Craft Village is a collection of multiple small museums in the wooded hills west of downtown Toyama City. The buildings themselves are often as interesting as the exhibits, with two being gassho-zukuri farmhouses relocated from more rural areas of the city and similar to those found in nearby Gokayama. Next to the folk village stands Chokeiji Temple with its 500 rakan statues.

Destination 03: Toyama Glass Art Museum

The Toyama Glass Art Museum in Toyama City showcases a large collection of glass art from around the world. The beautifully modern Kirari building that houses the museum was designed by world-renowned architect Kuma Kengo and also contains the city’s public library.

Adult: JPY200 (permanent exhibition); fee for temporary exhibitions varies, typically JPY700 – JPY1000

Destination 04: Toyama Castle Park

Toyama Castle Park covers the former grounds of Toyama Castle in central Toyama. The park contains a reconstructed castle keep, an art museum, a nice Japanese garden, spacious lawns and a statue of the former local lord. It is a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing usually around early to mid April.

The tour will end with us dropping you off at a location of your choice in Toyama.
