Fuji Shibazakura Festival

The Fuji Shibazakura Festivalis one of the best and most popular occasions nationwide to see shibazakura (pink moss or phlox moss in English). The venue of the festival is located about three kilometers south of Lake Motosuko in the Fuji Five Lakes area, offering breathtaking views of vast fields of shibazakura, with Mount Fuji in the backdrop on clear days.

The tour then moves onto Lake Kawaguchi Area and/or Gotemba Premium Outlet. Guests can choose two destinations from the following options:

Option 01: Oishi Park

Oishi park at the Lake Kawaguchiko northern coast is a park with the superb view which can look at both lake and Mt. Fuji at a time. Various flowers bloom seasonally along a shore promenade. On a sunny day, there are many photographers taking a lake and flowers, and Mt.Fuji from an early morning. There is a large free parking lot and is popular as a rest area of the touring of a bicycle and the motorcycle.

From the middle of June until the start of July, the park held The Fujikawaguchiko Herb Festival. The event is held in Yagizaki Park & Oishi Park every year. It is most famous for its lavish and lavendar beds. In addition to lavendar and other flowers there are also herbs, crafts, teas and treats, food and shopping tents, and an outdoor stage for music and other performances.

Option 02: Kachi-kachi Ropeway

The Kachi Kachi Ropeway ascends 400 meters from the eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko to an observation deck near the peak of Mount Tenjo. From the observation deck, which sits more than 1000 meters above sea level, there are panoramic views of the lake below and of Mount Fuji. While most visitors take a round trip on the ropeway, there is also a hiking trail from the observation deck down the forested mountain slope which takes about 30 minutes to descend. A different trail leads from the observation point 300 meters uphill to a small shrine at the summit of Mount Tenjo, from there the trail continues on to Mount Mitsutoge, a popular day hike with good views of Mount Fuji.
