All prices are per group (irrespective of the number of people) and include only the vehicle cost, driver fee, highway tolls/ parking fees. Lunch/ dinner/ incidental expenses & tickets etc. are not included.

We will pick you up from your accommodation at the beginning of the tour and drop you back at a location of your choosing (within Tokyo) after the tour. Please make sure to fill in the correct accommodation (and address) when booking the tour.

 

Option 01: The Little Prince Museum (Recommended)

The Little Prince Museum is the world’s only museum devoted to The Little Prince. It was created as part of the worldwide celebration of the birth centennial of author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The museum, which explores Saint-Exupéry’s life, also features a French townscape and European garden, set within the lush natural beauty of Hakone.

Option 02: Pola Museum of Art (Recommended)

Pola Museum of Art opened in 2002 and has displayed works from famous artists, including Monet, Renoir and Picasso; it has a varied collection that features Western-style paintings by Japanese artists, Japanese paintings, woodcut prints, Oriental clay pieces, glasswork, cosmetics items and more. Many of the over ten thousand total items in the collection were gathered by Tsuneshi Suzuki, second-generation head of the Japanese cosmetics manufacturer Pola Orbis Group, over more than four decades. In addition to many works by famous artists, the museum has a promenade and restaurants where you can enjoy lunch while seated out on a terrace. Naturally, it’s great for art lovers, but even art appreciation novices will find something to enjoy here. The Pola Museum is a place where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and relax to your very core, through contact with music and art.

Option 03: Hakone Open Air Museum (Recommended)

Hakone Open-Air Museum is Japan’s first open-air museum, opened in 1969. It has collections of artworks made by Picasso, Henry Moore, Taro Okamoto, Yasuo Mizui, Churyo Sato, and many others, featuring over a thousand sculptures and works of art. The museum houses over 1,000 sculptures and features art by Henry Moore, Constantin Brâncuși, Barbara Hepworth, Rokuzan Ogiwara, and Kōtarō Takamura. The sculptural works in Hakone Open-Air Museum has about 120 on permanent display across the huge sculpture park.

The museum is the perfect spot to go for a leisurely stroll surrounded by nature, all the while appreciating great art. Needless to say, it’s a popular spot for impressive Instagram snaps.

Option 04: Hakone Glass no Mori

The Hakone Glass no Mori features Italian styled buildings housing a museum and shops. Outside is a large strolling garden surrounding a canal like pond. The garden has a number of large glass sculptures laid about it, as well as a cafe with an open terrace at one end where live canzoni (Italian ballads) performances are held.

The Glass no Mori’s Venetian Glass Museum houses a collection of over 100 pieces of Venetian glassware. It displays both modern and classical works in all forms including vases, goblets, lamps and sculptures.

Option 05: Narukawa Art Museum

Narukawa Art Museum, by Lake Ashi in Hakone, was opened to the public in 1988. This private museum possesses masterpieces of nihonga, Japanese-style paintings, collected energetically by museum owner Minoru Narukawa over the course of 20 years, including 200 pieces by Kyujin Yamamoto, recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit.

Option 05: Okada Museum of Art

The Okada Museum of Art is a privately-owned museum showcasing a wide collection of art pieces dating from antiquity to the modern era. Opened in 2013 by casino mogul Okada Kazuo, the museum features a large array of East Asian ceramics, sculptures and paintings, all housed in a very spacious, modern facility surrounded by expansive grounds that feature a Japanese garden, a teahouse and a cafe with hot spring foot bath.
