DETAILED ITINERARY
We start off in Nagano. After picking you up in one of our luxurious private vehicles, we will drive you through the three destinations of your choice.
Option 01: Zenkoji Temple
Nagano’s Zenkoji Temple is one of the most important and popular temples in Japan. It was founded in the 7th century and stores the first Buddhist statue ever to be brought into Japan when Buddhism was first introduced in the 6th century. The original statue is hidden while a copy of it is shown to the public every six years for a few weeks.
Entrance fee (separate from tour price, to be purchased on the spot)
Adult: JPY500 per person
Option 02: Jigokudani snow monkey (required a long walk to reach the onsen)
The Jigokudani Monkey Park offers visitors the unique experience of seeing wild monkeys bathing in a natural hot spring. The park is inhabited by Japanese Macaques, which are also known as Snow Monkeys. It is located in the monkey’s natural habitat, in the forests of the Jigokudani valley in Yamanouchi, not far from the onsen towns of Shibu and Yudanaka.
Entrance fee (separate from tour price, to be purchased on the spot)
Adult: JPY800 per person
Option 03: Tamamura Honten
Tamamura Honten started brewing Shiga Kogen Beer, like several other breweries such as Kiuchi Brewery, as an offshoot from a sake brewery. In 2004, Tamamura Honten applied for a license and started brewing in September of the same year. Unlike other breweries however, Shiga Kogen Beer receives 20% of its hops from the local area, produced by Tamamura Honten.
Option 04: Kaede no Yu
This is a day trip bathing facility right next to Yudanaka Station, and the pure Japanese style building is built on the train platform. It is a popular spot to enjoy natural hot spring water in easy reach of the station, with entry at a pleasingly low cost. There are indoor and open-air rotemburo baths, and special baths that switch between male and female use every month. There is also a rest spot where one can see trains pulling in to the platform.
Entrance fee (separate from tour price, to be purchased on the spot)
Adult: JPY300 per person
Option 05: Sekai Heiwa Kannon
The Sekai Heiwa Kannon is 25 meters tall and is set upon a hill overlooking the town of Yudanaka. This bronze female statue is dedicated to world peace and is found on the site of the Daihiden Temple. Next to the temple is a huge bell tower which you can ring to ask for world peace. The sounds of the bell resounds all throughout town.
Entrance fee (separate from tour price, to be purchased on the spot)
Adult: JPY200 per person
Option 06: Oyu Public Bath (for daytrip visitors)
Oyu, located at the centre of Nozawa Onsen village, is regarded one of it’s most recognisable landmarks. It is a beautiful bath house with an atmosphere reminiscent of the Edo period that was once a feudal retreat. This bath house symbolises Nozawa Onsen and is the largest and grandest bathhouse building among the Soto-yu. A ‘must try’ onsen for visitors to Nozawa Onsen.
