FIREWORKS/HANABI FESTIVAL OPTIONS:
Option 01: Sumidagawa – 27 July 2019 (date might change)
The Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival is an annual fireworks festival held on the last Saturday in July, over the Sumidagawa near Asakusa. The Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival follows the Japanese tradition of being a competition between rival pyrotechnic groups. It is a revival of celebrations held in the Edo period, and annually attracts close to a million celebrants.
Option 02: Edogawa – 3 August 2019 ( date might change)
Running for over 40 years, the Edogawa Fireworks Festival is one of the more senior fireworks festivals in Tokyo. You can enjoy the fireworks display from either side of the river. The main attraction of the Edogawa Fireworks Festival are the 1,000 fireworks that are launched during the first five seconds after the show begins. Though this might be the most memorable part of the evening, you also can’t afford to miss the rest of the show either.
Option 03: Adachi – 20 July 2019 (date might change)
The almost 100-year-old firework show features about 12,000 fireworks, which are blasted into the sky for an entire hour. The Adachi Fireworks Festival is held towards the end of July and attracts over 600,000 people, who line up along the banks of the Arakawa River. One of the better events to get an unobstructed view of the fireworks.
Option 04: Odaiba – 10 August 2019 ( date might change)
Fireworks festivals are a Japanese summer tradition, so it’s no surprise that the shopping and entertainment district of Odaiba has decided to light up the sky at the beginning of August. Four of Japan’s leading pyrotechnics companies will each create a colourful segment which will see a total of 12,000 fireworks shot into the sky – and the event will end with a bang (well, several hundred bangs) when the quartet of companies collaborate to produce an explosive finale.
The tour will end with us dropping you off at a location of your choice in Tokyo.
