Destination 01: Senganen Garden

Senga-en is a traditional garden built by the 19th head of the Shimadzu family, Mitsuhisa, in 1658. It is recognized as a World Culture Heritage Site in 2015 because you can enjoy the garden, volcano, and ocean.

Destination 02: Satsuma Denshokan Museum

Satsuma was the name of the former country and region located in present-day western Kagoshima Prefecture. This private museum has over 3000 collections of local artwork and historic artifact.

Destination 03: Sand Bath Hall Saraku

Saraku is located at the seaside and has facilities with open space to enjoy the surrounding view. SA” signifies sand and “RAKU” for happiness and relaxation. It is not only a natural sand bath in the world, but the sand is infused with plenty of hot spring water that comes naturally from the beach. Saraku has become more popular amongst young ladies as a beauty treatment of the whole body, This has made it more popular as a Japanese style Sauna among foreign visitors.

Destination 04: Sebira View Point

This is the best spot to relax after a few hours in the car and offer a magnificent view of Mt. Kamon and the ocean.

Destination 05: Lake Ikeda

Lake Ikeda is about 40 kilometres south of Kagoshima, which is the biggest volcanic lake in Kyushu, with a circumference of 15 kilometres and a surface area of 11 square km, and a depth of up to 233 meters. This lake has an unique shape, which is the almost round-shaped lake is a caldera lake formed more than 6400 years ago because of volcanic activity in the area.
